1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the edge of transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to control boost and fuel. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can activate spark and injectors accordingly.

If this sensor fails the ECU will display the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are not in sync, possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper chain of timing. However, the code won't be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit challenging because there are two connector pins, and they have different functions however the best method to test it is to measure the resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read around 1000 ohms when the sensor is operating at its maximum. If you are having problems with this sensor, look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll, i experienced an abrupt drop in power like the engine is running out of gas or injectors are not firing any more. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, 3 were drenched in gazoline, the fourth one was dry. When i crank the engine without sparks, i place a tissue on top of each injector hole and the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th stay closed. I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it is running fine with the G28 plugged in. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars when the actual pressure is zero.

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. Test them out to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and measure the resistance between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black connector's end). 4. ECU

Some of the signs of a failed G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or a misfire when you are in gear. If you are experiencing any of these issues, it is likely your sensor is going bad and should be replaced. 5. Tachometer
