Claire, our tester, was impressed by the packaging. It was easy to open and clean. She found it to be among the most simple and quick pieces of baby equipment to put together. She tried it on some rough terrain and was amazed by its performance.

Seats

The majority of triple buggies start life as single pushchairs, although some models can be converted to accommodate a second seat or carrycot with adapters (these are usually more common in tandem buggies). It can be used to accommodate twins from birth and will accept two car seats or seats and a carrycot. However, the seats have to be oriented forward and there's no space for a shopping bag under which is why you'll need a backpack for this.

Mountain Buggy Duet will be the best choice when you love off-roading. It's a side-by-side with the smallest footprint of any double buggy on the market. It's easier to maneuver through narrow doors on public transport, and to climb over and up kerbs. It can be used in 30 seating configurations, and comes with an integrated ride-on board that can be used for older children who prefer walking and a 'cinema seating' mode which raises the back seat to improve visibility.

The phil&teds dots are great single buggys that can be easily adapted to take two (or three!) in various configurations. This is especially helpful when you have a child in a car seat since the frame can be equipped with a wedgie to allow for optimal position, and also car seat adapters to various brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a double 3 wheeled pushchair-wheel buggy will determine how easily your child/children and you can push it. It is important to enjoy a smooth ride as babies can feel every bump on the road. This is particularly relevant if you drive on rough terrain like grass or roads that aren't paved. Some models come with locking front tires that aid in maneuvering and navigating obstacles like curbs.

Some models have air-filled tyres that are great for all-terrain rides, but they are susceptible to punctures. Make sure you keep an extra set of tyres inside the trunk. Some models have gel or foam tyres, specifically designed to handle bumps and can be less prone to punctures however, you may feel a bit stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back if you decide to jog.
